1. High performances for top quality results
The FABtotum Personal Fabricator has been developed with all the necessary add-ons a good 3d print can need.
The Hybrid Bed, already on board on the FABtotum Core PRO and compatible with the FABtotum Core, can heat up to 100°C, so that filaments can better stay firm and temperatures are better handled. The high-performance borosilicate glass is strictly flat and it can guarantee that resolution of any print is respected.
The Hybrid Bed, just as its “anchestor”, has a double side with pre-set holes to fasten the starting material where milling task will run. This metal surface will also prevent glass one from scrathes or any other damage.
The FABtotum also comes with an onboard memory to keep both software and all the files printed. The SD memory can store up to 8GB: plenty of space for GCODES. With the (upcoming) RaspberryPI 3, everything software-side runs smoothly. The electronic side of the printer is hiding even more than this, but that’s already a lot, right?
Time is money we say: that’s why starting a print and being able to start another task is fundamental. The FABtotum, once the job has started, is completely autonomous and there’s no need to stay connected to it. While it is always possible to doublecheck how things are going, it is not essential to keep a device connected to it. The FABtotum will just keep on running its task. Just relax and wait for it to finish.
2. A fully networked experience
The FABtotum is capable of printing autonomously (without being connected to a computer), from cabled LAN, Wireless LAN and even remotely from the Internet (Your Network must be properly configured for this), thanks to the 3D printing software FabUI, FABtotum User interface. Also, users and developers have access to a well known development ecosystem, the Raspberry Pi’s Raspbian Linux distribution to develop more applications. The FABtotum features a customized web management app, SSH and VNC server on the local network, so with one authorization code you can access all the functions of the machine: 3D Printing, 3D Milling, Laser, Diagnostics.
All these functions are accessible not only from anywhere in your local network, but also on any device with web browsing capabilities. Enjoy the pleasure of printing remotely from your smartphone, tablet, your windows Pc, Mac, Linux, Android, IOS. You can use touch screens devices, mouse, keyboard – you name it!
3. Open Source
The FABtotum Personal Fabricator is meant to push the boundaries of personal fabrication. To do this we want to involve people in the design process as much as possible and allow them to modify and improve the machine to fit their own needs without restrictions. FABtotum allow the design and commercialization of third party heads to expand the machine capabilities.
The full documentations, including drawings and the reproduction of The FABtotum is allowed and encouraged under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Sharealike 3.0 Unported Licence.
